Buffetti – Made in Italy

Buffetti: 170 years of paper, software and digital signatures

With a history that began in 1852 and is rooted in the early 20th century, and a widespread presence throughout the country, Buffetti is much more than just a brand of office products: it represents a true institution, capable of accompanying generations of students, professionals and businesses on their organisational, creative and working paths. From paper and stamps to Public Digital Identity System and digital signatures, it has evolved without losing its distinctive style.

When one speaks of Buffetti, the thought immediately goes to forms, office supplies, stamps, pens, but also to something less tangible: software, Public Digital Identity System and electronic signatures. A blend that tells the story of this company, which has accompanied the Italian working world for over 170 years, adapting to the times without ever betraying its original vocation: to provide practical solutions for those who work.

Founded in 1852 in Rovigo, when Italy was still a patchwork of states, Buffetti is now a company with sales exceeding € 90 million, boasting more than 700 franchised outlets spread widely throughout the country. A network so extensive that it has become the leading Made in Italy operator in the field of office supplies and services for professionals and businesses.

From paper to the cloud: the transformation of a historic company

Over the years, Buffetti has been able to move naturally from paper forms to management software, from notepads to innovative working services. Today, the digital component accounts for approximately 30 per cent of the business, thanks to an offering that includes cloud solutions, electronic signature services, the Public Digital Identity System, and certified e-mail. The decision to invest in digital solutions was not just a matter of following a trend, but a path that began in the 1990s, when Buffetti guessed the transformation of the labour market and began developing a wide range of solutions for companies and professionals.

This pioneering spirit aligns with the brand’s very history: back in 1923, when Italy was still far from the modern office, Buffetti opened the first store in Rome specialising in commercial, fiscal, and administrative forms. Those same forms that would mark the Italian collective imagination for decades to come.

When Buffetti become a protagonist (even) in movies

Between the 1970s and 1990s, Buffetti products were a constant presence. It is not uncommon in Italian films of that period to see Buffetti notepads on clerks’ tables or behind accountants’ desks. Someone even remembers the famous Buffetti letterhead appearing in scenes from the films with accountant Fantozzi, confirming how ingrained the brand was in everyday Italian working life. Not just a supplier of office supplies, but a real backdrop of working life.

Sustainability: less plastic, more responsibility

In recent years, Buffetti has also embarked on a concrete path toward sustainability. The avowed goal is to reduce non-recyclable plastic from its store shelves by 90%. Thus was conceived the “I Love Green” project, a line of sustainable stationery products that is only one part of a larger plan. For Buffetti, sustainability is not limited to materials, but also involves how we work: more digital solutions mean less waste, less paper, less unnecessary bureaucracy.

The decision to go down this path is not just a marketing move. The company sees it as a duty, a necessary step to align with market demands and, above all, to take concrete social responsibility.

A brand that endures and renews itself

Today, Buffetti is part of the Dylog Group, which is owned by entrepreneur Rinaldo Ocleppo, a group with more than 250 million euros in annual sales. Despite the corporate transition, Buffetti’s identity has remained 100% Made in Italy, with headquarters in Rome, a team of 200 employees, a 14,000-square-foot logistics centre, and a flagship store in the heart of the capital.

Between typography, software, e-commerce and physical stores, Buffetti represents an interesting case of industrial evolution on the Italian scene. It is neither a startup nor a global tech giant, but a brand that has remained consistent over time, accompanying Italian businesses and workers at every stage of their daily lives.

Perhaps this is precisely the key to Buffetti’s success: never stop working alongside the working people.
