It is much more than just a car manufacturer: it is engineering excellence, cutting-edge design, and extraordinary performance, as well as being a true global icon of Italian manufacturing. We are talking about Ferrari, synonymous with racing and speed, one of the best-known Italian brands in the world, which has also influenced the international automotive sector and, over time, has become synonymous with extreme performance and an unbreakable bond with the world of racing.

The man behind the Prancing Horse

The history of Ferrari is a journey into the heart of Italian motoring passion. It all began in 1929, when Enzo Ferrari, born in 1898, founded Scuderia Ferrari in Modena. Initially, the Scuderia did not build its own cars; it prepared and managed Alfa Romeo cars for competition. When the collaboration with Alfa Romeo ended, Scuderia Ferrari was dissolved and, for contractual reasons, Enzo Ferrari was only able to produce the first car under his own name in 1947. It was the legendary 125 S, equipped with a V12 engine designed by Gioachino Colombo. An interesting fact: the famous Prancing Horse logo is derived from the one used by aviator Francesco Baracca, a hero of the First World War.

The rise in racing

Since its inception, Ferrari has found its raison d’être in the world of racing. In the 1950s and 1960s, Ferrari consolidated its reputation thanks to extraordinary successes in the world of motor racing, including numerous victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But it is its connection with Formula 1 that is one of the elements that makes Ferrari unique. It won its first Grand Prix victory in 1951 and is the only team to have taken part in every edition of the world championship from 1950 to the present day.

The Prancing Horse soon became a symbol of excellence, winning numerous world titles for drivers and constructors and becoming the most successful team in Formula 1 history. Legendary names such as Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher and, more recently, Kimi Räikkönen have written unforgettable pages in history at the wheel of the red single-seaters.

Ferrari Stradale: a dream on four wheels

Alongside its sporting activities, Ferrari began producing road cars. Over the years, it has created legendary models that have gone down in motoring history. Among the most famous are the Ferrari 250 GTO from the 1960s, considered one of the most beautiful and desirable cars of all time; the Ferrari 308; the Ferrari Testarossa, famous in the 1980s for its unmistakable design; the F40, wanted by Enzo Ferrari; and the Ferrari Enzo, dedicated to the founder, which represented a benchmark in terms of technological innovation. Some of these unmistakable models were born from collaborations with coachbuilders such as Pininfarina. More recently, models such as the LaFerrari and SF90 Stradale have introduced electrification to the Ferrari world, integrating hybrid engines to increase performance and reduce emissions.

Innovation and technology

But Ferrari is not just about competition: it is also about design and craftsmanship. Each car is the result of a refined balance between advanced technology and traditional Italian manufacturing. Over the decades, the company has introduced pioneering innovations: from carbon fibre monocoque chassis to sophisticated active aerodynamics, through to the hybrid technology of the latest supercars. The result is that each car represents the pinnacle of Italian engineering and craftsmanship.

All Ferraris are built in Maranello, where Italian technology and craftsmanship come together to create a product that is both a mechanical object and a work of art. The famous V12 engine, the unmistakable sound, the aerodynamic lines, the instantly recognisable design: every detail tells a story of passion for perfection.

Sustainability and performance

One of Ferrari’s most fascinating aspects is its ability to reinvent itself without losing its identity. In recent years, the company has undergone a major technological evolution, introducing high-performance hybrid systems. The SF90 Stradale is a prime example: a plug-in hybrid supercar with over 1000 horsepower, demonstrating how sustainability and performance can coexist. This transition represents a concrete response to new environmental and regulatory requirements, without betraying the sporting spirit that has always characterised the brand.

The Ferrari universe: beyond cars

Ferrari is also a powerful cultural symbol. The Prancing Horse is recognised in every corner of the world and is associated with values such as success, passion, and style. Merchandising, driving experiences, museums in Maranello and Modena, and even theme parks contribute to building a Ferrari universe that goes beyond the car itself. Buying a Ferrari means not only purchasing a car but also becoming part of an exclusive community of collectors, enthusiasts, and drivers.

The myth today

Ultimately, Ferrari is not just a car manufacturer: it is a modern legend. It is the result of a vision that began in a small town in Emilia-Romagna and has become a global heritage. Whether it is a Formula 1 single-seater or a road-going supercar, every Ferrari tells a story of speed, beauty, and passion. And as long as people are willing to get excited by the roar of an engine – or the powerful silence of an electric car – the Prancing Horse will continue to race in the hearts of the world.

Congratulations to those who bring the roar of engines and Made inn Italy design to the world!
