Starting this week, you can buy Made in Italy… in pieces (of land)! To be exact, you can buy 3.4% of Italy! A joke? No, in the Metaverse, it is all true.
This is thanks to Coderblock, a Sicilian startup founded by CEO Danilo Costa, among the most promising under-40s in the Fortune Italia ranking.
The startup that sells Italy in the Metaverse
Costa graduated in Mathematical Sciences with a thesis on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and worked for over eight years in advertising-related companies and as an IT consultant. Coderblock was founded in 2018, and in addition to his role as CEO, Costa leads the Software Development team. Now, this startup has officially opened the presales of ‘land lots’ in Italy. Inverted commas are a must because these are virtual plots but buildable and customisable, with a well-defined size: 16 metres by 16 metres, represented on a map by spatial coordinates. Here, users will be able to build, customise, and brand their own spaces. The price? Just under USD 300 for the first lots.

Increasingly virtual real estate
Thanks to Blockchain and Ntf technologies (and global giants such as META), the real estate market is increasingly becoming a ‘virtual real estate’, with virtual contracts signed by avatars and a turnover expected to reach $2.5 billion in 2023.

‘Owning land in the Metaverse means obtaining a property right to a virtual land that, as it acquires value, allows for gains related to buying, selling or renting it. Within a land, it is also possible to create all kinds of experiences, expand one’s target audience and boost one’s business with new lead generation opportunities. ,’ said Costa in an interview published in Quotidiano Nazionale.
Open a 3D shop with a click
Unlike other platforms, however, Coderblock makes it possible to become an owner in the Metaverse by easily accessing it from smartphones and PCs without installing viewers or external software. Coderblock has, in fact, developed a platform based on simplicity, where one click is all it takes to open a 3D shop that links to one’s e-commerce. The same applies to buying a plot of land and then organising events on it.
‘The Metaverse offers real investment opportunities, but you must invest in things with a function and utility. It is essential to keep the goal real ‘ explained Danilo Costa.
Congratulations to those who ‘augment’ reality and bring Italy into the Metaverse!
