Lanerossi - Made in Italy

Lanerossi, the warm heart of Made in Italy

One of the pleasures of the cold seasons is spending an evening on the sofa, wrapped in a warm afghan, with a cup of tea or coffee. And, very often, to warm us up are the afghans by Lanerossi, a brand that has produced quality fabrics for over 200 years.

One of the best things about the cold season is surely an evening spent on the sofa, wrapped in a warm blanket with a cup of tea or coffee. Lanerossi, a historic Italian brand with over 200 years of experience (since 1817) in producing high-quality blankets and fabrics, can be found in almost every Italian home.

The history of Lanerossi began in 1817 when Francesco Rossi founded the Industrie Rossi wool mill in Schio (VI). Success, however, came with his son Alessandro, who modernised the machinery and diversified textile production. Driven by strong social values, he built as many as 200 housing units and a kindergarten for the wool mill workers between 1872 and 1873. Two primary schools were built in the following years, and evening training courses were organised at the wool mill.

Quality, communication and focus on raw materials

Thanks to Alessandro’s enlightened leadership, in 1873 Lanificio Rossi became a joint-stock company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange. The logo is a strand of wool forming the letter R for Rossi in the iconic red colour. In 1958, Lanerossi won official recognition for the best advertising campaign of the year, created by illustrators Riccardo Manzi, Haëm (Hans Meury) and Sto (Sergio Tofano). Collaboration with renowned designers and investment in advertising characterised the company’s marketing strategies. In 1960, the company reached a turnover of 23 billion lire, with 10,000 employees working across various factories.

Lanerossi Vicenza: sports patronage

Quality and care for raw materials, meticulous attention to detail, design and manufacture made Lanerossi one of the most important Italian companies and among the first to patronise sport, with the 1953 purchase of Vicenza Calcio, which has since become Lanerossi Vicenza.

Innovation and sustainability

In 1987, the company became part of the Marzotto Group, and today Lanerossi (Marzotto Lab) continues its business under the leadership of CEO Luca Vignaga, guided by values such as innovation and scientific research. Particular attention is also paid to sustainability, an area in which the company is committed to promoting responsible attitudes to protect the environment.

Recently, the company opened its first flagship shop in Milan, in the central Brera district.
