If the Devil wears Prada, Carlo Ancelotti and the whole Real Madrid club will wear… Zegna, another historical Made in Italy brand!
A multi-million agreement has just been signed by the football club holding the most European cups and the company founded in Trivero (Biella) by Ermenegildo Zegna 112 years ago.
According to the official press release, “the Italian house will become the club’s official luxury travel clothing partner, dressing the first men’s and women’s football and basketball teams, as well as their technical staff, from the 2022/23 season.“
The prestigious Italian brand, which has become Real Madrid’s official luxury travelwear partner, will present outfits for the official occasions of athletes and technicians on 30 September in Madrid. The press release also states that “Zegna will unveil the new collection that Real Madrid will wear from now on, which will combine the heritage of both brands throughout history.
Zegna recently presented its new logo, which will be further enhanced by the partnership with Real Madrid. The new logo, which will be featured on the clothing, is based on a double stripe that pays homage to the road named 232. It starts in the mountains and runs through the Oasi Zegna, the 100 square kilometre free-access nature reserve in northern Italy that was created as a result of the founder’s early commitment to sustainability.’
The international calling, after all, has always been a ‘trademark’ of the Zegna group. In fact, the founder used to search for the best natural fibres directly in their countries of origin and import them to Italy. Then, he had them processed by local experts and exported the finished product worldwide. The brand’s history began 110 years ago in the village of Trivero, and its mission has always been to create beauty. Not only in the products: Ermenegildo’s business idea was closely connected to the well-being of the people and the territory in which the company would live and prosper. In the 1930s, Zegna built several facilities for his employees, including a modernist swimming pool, a school and a hospital. More extensive projects also date back to this period, such as the construction of the Zegna Panoramic Road and the protected area that would become the Oasi Zegna in 1993. This is the legacy of a massive reforestation plan for the mountains surrounding the wool mill, where Ermenegildo Zegna planted 500,000 conifer trees.
Over the years, the Group has focused on expanding its portfolio and presence globally and, through a series of acquisitions, has expanded its brand diversification.
Today, the Zegna Group creates, produces, and distributes luxury menswear and accessories under the Zegna brand and womenswear and menswear and accessories under the Thom Browne brand. Gildo Zegna, the third generation of the family, is chairman and CEO of the group.
Congratulations to those who operate locally and manage to give their business international scope!
