It is called TooA, and it is a new machine that, thanks to a 100% Made in Italy food tech patent, revolutionises the way ice cream is made at home.
TooA is, in fact, a compact, self-cooling ice cream maker with a minimalist design that uses TooA single-serving, mixtures of freeze-dried natural ingredients packed in tetra-pack capsules.
Technology and taste go hand in hand
If all this reminds you of coffee machines, well, you’re on the right track: like coffee capsules, TooA single-serving packages can also be stored at room temperature, thus saving significantly on energy costs and solving the problems of maintaining the cold chain. And if you think that too much technology can adversely affect the quality of good homemade ice cream… you are wrong! It is possible to choose from 18 flavours, from the most classic to the most refined, such as mascarpone and raisin cream, up to vegan or lactose-free formulations, all strictly 100% Made in Italy.
Homemade ice cream: as easy as making coffee
How does this machine, which allows you to make ice cream in the same way you make coffee, work? Making ice cream with TooA is actually very simple: you scan the QR code on the bricks, wait for the ‘beep’ from the device, pour the mixture into the small glass, insert the small glass with lid and whisking paddles into the machine and start the process that will allow you to enjoy an excellent ice cream in just three minutes. The app also allows you to set the ice cream’s degree of creaminess while the package weight – 85 grams – is that of a classic single portion.
But that is not all: cleaning the accessories is also very easy. It is enough to rinse everything with soap and water or wash in a dishwasher at low temperatures. The cost of the machine is around 300 euros, and to date, more than two thousand have already been sold. The packages are delivered within 48 hours throughout Italy.
A startup that looks far ahead
TooA’s project was born in 2019 in Fabriano, Ancona, from the insight of Aldo Uva, who gained experience in Indesit, Natuzzi, Ferrero and Csm Ingredients, and the entrepreneurial spirit of Maria Paola Merloni, daughter of Vittorio (founder of Indesit Company), and former president of Confindustria Marche.
Giulio Camillo Zuccoli, born in 1992, is TooA CEO. He has followed all the start-up stages, from analyzing the Business Plan to commercial agreements to sell in Northern Europe, Dubai, and the Emirates to opening dozens of stores, such as the flagship store in Milan.
The initial investment was 10 million euros, but today several investors are looking at this new company with interest.
