Within the European automotive industry, few companies can boast a track record of growth, specialisation and innovation as consistent as Agla Power Transmission. From its humble beginnings as a small workshop to its current role as a technology partner for major car manufacturers, the company’s journey is a concrete example of how technical expertise and entrepreneurial vision can evolve hand in hand, bringing ‘Made in Italy’ to the world.
From the basement to a full-fledged industry
The story begins in 1962, when Giacomo Bonù set up a small die-casting business in the basement of his home. In its early years, the company focused exclusively on die-casting. It distinguished itself through a pioneering approach to the design and manufacture of power transmission components, laying the foundations for what would become a shining example of Italian excellence.
The turning point came in 1977, when Agla Power Transmission was founded in Avigliana (Turin). Over time, the company has established itself as one of the leading specialists in cold plastic forming of steel, a key technology for producing high-precision components for the automotive sector.
Made in Italy specialisation, quality and innovation
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Agla consolidated its position in the automotive sector. Today, it is known worldwide for its torsional vibration dampers and pulleys, the best-selling products in a range that also includes decouplers, components for automatic gearboxes, flexplates and pressed parts.

One of the company’s key distinguishing features is its integrated production approach: every stage of the production process, from design and planning, in collaboration with the client, to product manufacture, is managed in-house, ensuring high-quality standards and maximum flexibility.
Innovation has always been one of the cornerstones of the company’s growth. Through ongoing investment in research and development, Agla creates technologically advanced solutions designed to deliver high performance, reliability and durability, meeting the increasingly complex demands of the global automotive market.
International expansion and sustainability
Thanks to a strategic vision and a network of strong partnerships, Agla Power Transmission has expanded beyond national borders, exporting Italian expertise across the globe. Today, the company boasts a widespread presence in European and international markets, offering bespoke solutions and highly skilled technical support.
In terms of sustainability, the use of cold-forming techniques results in lower energy consumption, thereby reducing environmental impact compared to traditional methods such as casting or hot forging. The company has also invested in sustainable energy solutions, installing solar panels to reduce its carbon footprint.
Innovation and patents
Sixty years on from that first machine in the basement, Agla Power Transmission has grown into a robust and innovative industrial company. With 122 employees and a turnover that exceeded €38 million in 2024, Agla Power Transmission is an original equipment manufacturer and product manager for leading car manufacturers in the EMEA and USMCA markets.

The company’s drive for innovation is highlighted by over 20 patents filed in the fields of metal forming and vibration mechanics. This technological heritage shows Agla’s ability to combine manufacturing tradition, advanced research and international competitiveness.
Well done to those who are taking Italian technology to the world!
